Do Crunches hurt your Tailbone?

May 15th, 2008 by Lori

Crunches on a Bowflex without Hurting your Tailbone

I have never been able to do crunches because they hurt my back and tailbone too much.

Well thanks to my Bowflex I have found an answer to my post-chilbirth tummy! I want to share it with you because I always thought it was just too hard to do crunches, but I have found that I was wrong. Hopefully this will help someone else too. Read the rest of this entry »

Recurring Dreams of Being Lost at School

May 15th, 2008 by Lori

In addition to the recent recurring plane crash dream, in the past I have also had another recurring dream, one where I am in school and lost. I think these two dreams mean the same thing.

In my school dreams, I am a student in highschool, late for a class that I have never been to all year, and there is a big test for which I have not studied. I don’t know where the classroom is located, and I’m full of anxiety and guilt about the whole situation. Read the rest of this entry »

Crock-Pot Chicken Problem – Too Dry!

May 10th, 2008 by Lori

I have never used a crock pot. Until last week, that is.

I borrowed my mother’s crock pot so as not to waste too much money on one, until I decided if it was worth the money.

Have you ever had really dry turkey at Thanksgiving? I’ve cooked chicken in this slow cooker three times now, and my husband has given up on me. The chicken always turns out dry, dry, dry! Read the rest of this entry »

Recurring Plane Crash Dreams

May 7th, 2008 by Lori

I have these recurring dreams of planes crashing. They don’t happen that often, but often enough to disturb me, and cause me to do a quick search on the internet about it. Read the rest of this entry »

Web Design by …… ME!

May 3rd, 2008 by Lori

Piper Enterprises Web Design

So my husband has convinced me to offer my web design services to the world… for a fee, of course. I have spent the past few years designing websites for myself, family and friends. But I only had one client who no longer needs my services.

Now that has changed. Since I decided to take on a few clients last month I have already begun working with two wonderful people! How lucky am I?

Since this site is just based on a template (with my adorable son as the header image), I am thinking I need to do a little customization here. Now I just have to decide what type of design would work best.

What I most love, though, is building sites from scratch. Creating a website from start to finish really makes me proud. Designing CSS-based layouts (instead of table-based layouts) also makes me proud. And I adore working with graphics!

So – wish me luck! And if you need my services, give me a jingle!

Oh yeah, I should probably mention the main web design site, shouldn’t I? It’s www.piperenterprises.com.

Jeff Buckley Video

March 5th, 2008 by Lori

Okay, so here’s a strange thing: I have cable TV, but I don’t have it hooked up to the back of the television. Why, you ask? Well, I have cable becuase it makes my cable internet cheaper. I have it unhooked because I am a TV-holic, and the easiest way to turn off the TV is to never turn it on at all.

So my parents are visiting and they hook up the cable to watch American Idol last night – boys’ night to sing. They sang songs from the 80’s. So, being 35 and having grown up during the 80’s, I am loving it. Singing to all the songs and making everyone angry because they can’t hear the guys on the show.

Then I hear this kid named Jason sing this Jeff Buckley song. Somehow I don’t know this song – never heard it before in my life. After hearing him sing it, though, I found it on Jeff Buckley’s website. It’s a lovely song! Here it is so you can hear it yourself.

How is it that I’ve never heard it before?

Summer Squash and Snap Peas Recipe

February 7th, 2008 by Lori

Summer Squash and Snap PeasHere is a simple vegetable side-dish recipe that I tried out last night. It turned out pretty good. You may like it if you like marinara sauce and aren’t too thrilled with veggies…

As you can see from the picture, you only get a slice or two of squash and more peas, so feel free to add more squash or less peas as you desire.

I personally LOVE sauteed yellow onions and marinara sauce, so this one was definitely a winner for me!   Read the rest of this entry »

To Neti Pot or Not

January 30th, 2008 by Lori

…that is the question…

My Nostrils - Way too close up!

Ever heard of a Neti Pot? Until recently I was blissfully unaware that there is a product out there designed to “irrigate the sinuses”. By the way, kudos to me for having the self-esteem necessary to post a macro-focused closeup of my nostrils! Read the rest of this entry »
